Sports Management
Injury hasn’t stopped me from staying involved.
I now serve as a cross country and track & field team manager. From packing morning snacks to timing and working as clerk of course, I make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
My Story
Funny enough, some of my favorite feature photos weren’t even taken for an assignment or my own page. They were just for fun or to help a friend. Ironically, those spontaneous moments ended up producing some of the best photos I’ve ever taken, even though photography isn’t necessarily my strong suit.
I used to think great shots came from carefully composed, perfectly timed clicks. Having a mentality of helping out a friend made me less nervous about getting "the shot," and I wanted to get as many pictures as possible. But after recklessly filling my SD card with 600+ photos per event, I realized something: the best moments aren’t always obvious in real-time. You just keep shooting. Don’t pause too long—just press the shutter and let the moment happen. Then, dig through the chaos later to find that one frame that says it all.
Of course, I’m not saying take poorly framed shots for the sake of it, but I’ve learned the real value of patience. And not just in photography. Journalism teaches you to chase moments, but sometimes the real skill is knowing when to wait. Then comes the hardest part: sorting through 1,000 photos. It’s exhausting but always worth it.

Multimedia Work
As the team manager, I oversee all social media and digital outreach for our cross country team. When I took over, I shifted from casual posts to a more professional yet relatable style, boosting our follower count by 400 and increasing engagement through trend-driven, well-designed content.
Beyond social media, I handle a variety of technical and logistical tasks, including managing team communication platforms (bit.ly/PortolaXC), meet registrations, and designing our team store. I’m proficient with BSN Sports platforms and regularly collaborate with our boosters.
Additionally, I create all team-related design materials such as slips, posters, and flyers to support both cross country and track programs.

As team manager for cross country and track, I handle not only digital engagement but also the creation of promotional materials. From designing slips and logos to overseeing the printing of over 100 items for distribution at family events, school merch, and team promotions, I ensure our team's presence is felt both online and offline

SENIOR POSTERS
I started a senior tribute tradition, where I capture portraits of athletes and design custom posters for them. Over two years, I’ve experimented with design and typography while making sure to follow our school’s strict branding guidelines.
