Teaching Captions

Following the NSPA standard that 'captions should add to the story the photos begin, without stating the obvious or speculating on the content,' our staff was initially lacking. After attending a spring convention session on captions, I applied the insights gained to align our work with NSPA and journalistic standards, emphasizing caption starters and the concept of captions as 'mini-stories' in my presentation.
